		I did read that Drona used Brahmas Astram on normal warriors.He did this because of constant taunting from Duryodhana that he is favouring Pandavas because arjuna is close to him.
		When he was about to use this, Krishna played a ploy by asking one of the Pandavas to say that Ashwathama is dead.
		Drona believes his words and drops his arms and everything as by now he had lost all interest in life as for him Ashwathama was everything in life

		Sorry, I dont think so, he never lied, Yudhistra will never lie, he will be saying that Aswathama the Elephant has died, b4 he says Elephant Krishna would do some leela to hide the last words (elephant), i have a feeling that Krsihna was blowing the Shangu(conch)
