 S.F. group hopes to help Afghanistan / Asia Foundation joins stream of experts
Foundation officials have been meeting with American and Afghan experts in Washington and at the foundation's California Street headquarters in San Francisco's Financial District.
Foundation workers have also headed to Kabul, joining a stream of experts from other international nonprofit organizations surveying the situation in a country where security is still iffy and even the most basic infrastructure is in ruins.
White suggests the foundation return to Afghanistan with its books program, in which it already distributes about 600,000 donated texts a year in 23 countries, begin to help train a new generation of diplomats who can represent Afghanistan or adopt a small region of the country and help improve local education.
