		On the west, the conventional boundary between Europe and Asia is drawn at the Ural Mountains, continuing south along the Ural River to the Caspian Sea, then west along the Caucasus Mountains to the Black Sea.

		Asia have consistently peddled intelligent, melodic, rock since the eighties and this compilation follows the band in live performance from a 1990 TV broadcast with John Wetton and Pat Thrall, to a more recent outing at a New Jersey classic rock festival.
		The one common denominator appearing in all iterations of the band is the great Geoff Downes who supplies a cultured pop sensitivity with lush synth stylings, and ear for the symphonic chorus.
		If you have the currently available DVDs 'Asia Live In The USA', 'Live In Nottingham' and 'Live In Moscow' you will already own many of these tracks, but for those approaching Asia for the first time, who relish some visuals, this is an excellent introduction and whets the appetite for the next CD.

		In spite of Asia doin' very well indeed in their line-up of the latter years (with Jeff Payne as vocalist/ bassist), the band original band members decided (as far back as January 2006) to reform the original unit, in order to commemorate the 25 th anniversary of their 1982 smash hit self-titled debut album.
		It was the first time ever the band in its original line-up had played in Japan, and therefore it was considered the ideal place to do some recordings (this being the audio rendition, there's also a DVD coming out soon).
		With "the Heat Goes On", the band brings another track of their second album, and with "Ride Easy", they bring a song which was originally intended to be on the debut, but was only used as the b-side to the "Heat Of The Moment" single.

		Wetton eventually returned to the band, but I don't think their credibility really recovered with the personnel changes, and by the time Steve Howe was replaced, interest in the band evaporated, and it was all downhill ever since.
		With Palmer in the band, Asia almost never kept a straighforward beat - his drum parts were fairly flexible or all over the place, and his successors tried to pretty much follow his lead.
		ASIA debut is one of those albums that is not really essential in your collection, much less in an album review page but boy am I glad you are starting a review on these dudes.

		Asia are band with a convoluted history, at times akin to a soap opera and the comings and goings, line up changes, fallings out et al would make a good book.

	Sayonara Concert: PACAF Band goes out in style
		This concert was also a way for the Japanese and American bands to show their mutual admiration for each other through music.
		During the concert bands took turns playing music for the crowd until the finale when the bands joined forces to play a musical farewell.
