The Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) was established in 1983 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and has become the largest organization in southern California that provides Asian and Pacific Islander (API) and other communities with multi-lingual, culturally sensitive services and legal education.
Asian Pacific American and Muslim community organizations today applauded the arrest of a downtown Los Angeles resident on Monday for allegedly sending dozens of threatening letters and hypodermic syringes with needles to members of the Asian, Jewish, and Muslim communities.

The number of Asian American union members grew for the second year in a row from 603,000 to 614,000 from 2004 to 2005, but the percentage of Asian Americans declined slightly from 11.4% to 11.2%, according to annual union membership data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in January 2006.
