In 1922, when the Atlantic Fleet was dissolved, the Asiatic Fleet was charged with defending the Philippines and Guam and with upholding the Open Door Policy in China.
The Asiatic Fleet and the 16th Naval District, possessed 1 heavy cruiser, 1 light cruiser, 13 World War I-era destroyers, 29 submarines, 5 or 6 gunboats, 1 yacht, 6 minesweepers, 2 tankers, an ocean-going tugboat, 1 rescue vessel, and various other ships, including 6 motor torpedo boats that formed Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Three.
The aviation elements of the Asiatic Fleet comprised Patrol Wing 10, with two patrol squadrons (VPs), a utility unit, and the aviation units aboard the Fleet's two cruisers and the large seaplane tender Langley (AV-3).

In early 1903 the Asiatic Squadron was upgraded to the Asiatic Fleet.
Asiatic Fleet lost its battleships; its most powerful component now was an armoured cruiser division, probably of about six armoured and protected cruisers (I don't have exact details)..
In subsequent years the Scouting Fleet seems to have been used largely for training duties--midshipmen cruises and the like--which became the major function of the older battleships on the East Coast (at some point a Training Squadron was established; I'm not sure whether it was part of the Scouting Fleet).

According to my reading, the O-10 spent most of her career as a training ship and never ventured into the Pacific Ocean, so technically this photo is not related to the Asiatic Fleet.
On 2 April 1928 she set sail for San Francisco, arriving on 4 May. My grandfather was aboard, and he snapped this photo of rough seas.
After three years in the Asiatic Fleet, he was going home.

Fleet Admiral Nimitz became Chief of Naval Operations in December 1945.

Commissioned in 1936, Shark was a part of the Asiatic Fleet at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, departing Manila two days later.
Returning to Manila on 19 December, Shark took aboard Admiral Thomas Hart, CINC, Asiatic Fleet, and his staff, transporting them to Surabaya, in Java.
On 6 January 1942, Shark narrowly escaped being torpedoed by a Japanese submarine.
