When Ifugao was separated from Nueva Vizcaya in 1905, Captain Jeff Gallman of the American Army was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ifugao and was Succeeded by J. Jamilinsen.
It was in Ifugao, particularly Mt. Napulawan in the municipality of Hungduan, where General Yamashita known as "The Tiger of Malaya" decided to put his last stand against the Filipino and American forces.
Ifugao then started its operation as a distinct province on April 1, 1967 a few days after the first provincial officials were inducted into office on March 26, 1967 by His Excellency, Ferdinand E. Marcos, at La Trinidad, Benguet.

Purificacion Molintas, DOT regional director, said they are endorsing the revival of the Ifugao agricultural calendar that promotes traditional indigenous farming practices of Ifugaos to attract local and foreign tourists here.
Molintas said the revival of the agricultural calendar, a strategy to bring back the traditional practices of Ifugaos, has become socially and culturally acceptable in Ifugao villages.

Farmers from Ifugao have requested the environment department to conduct further research on the tree’s properties.
