Assembly language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Assembly language or simply assembly is a human-readable notation for the machine language that a specific computer architecture uses.
In particular, assembly is often used in writing the low level interaction between the operating system and the hardware, for instance in device drivers.
Assembly language is also valuable in reverse engineering, since many programs are distributed only in machine code form, and machine code is usually easy to translate into assembly language and carefully examine in this form, but very difficult to translate into a higher-level language.

The Assembly is based on the principle of power-sharing, in order to ensure that both communities in Northern Ireland, unionist and nationalist, participate in governing the region.
The Assembly was first convened in 1998 but attempts to secure its operation on a permanent basis have been frustrated by disagreements between the two biggest unionist parties and Sinn Féin, the largest nationalist party, which is linked to the Provisional IRA.
The 1998 Act provides that, unless the Assembly is dissolved early, elections should occur once in every five years on the first Thursday in May. However the second election to the Assembly was delayed by the UK government until 23 November 2003.

A Legislative Assembly in British constitutional thought is the second-to-top or third-to-top tier of a government led by a Governor-General, Governor or a Lieutenant-Governor, inferior to an Executive Council and equal to or inferior to a Legislative Council.
Though the Legislative Council should in theory operate as a legislature of a governorate (not necessarily a colony) with elected members, the separate development of governments in the British Empire and Commonwealth has seen the Councils evolve.
In the context of the French Revolution the French Legislative Assembly (Assemblée Legislative) functioned as the legislature of France from 1 October 1791 to September 1792.
