It was tremendous to see 14,000 scouts, all ringing the bay at Cabot Beach and enjoying themselves, and I was very happy to be with them on their final night.
All of essential aspects of scouting are interwoven in Scouts and l'Association des Scouts du Canada.
As your patron, I am honoured to be associated with those in the Scout movement who bring these aspects to life by their deeds, their teaching, and their inspiration to others.

This act incorporated Scouts Canada as a branch of The Boy Scouts Association which was itself incorporated by a Royal Charter on January 4, 1912.

 Quebec scouts pulled into funding fiasco
A Quebec-based scouting group says it received only $250,000 from the federal sponsorship program to put on a millennium jamboree, though the Public Works website lists the association as receiving $600,000.
The francophone scouting association's money for the 2000 "Jam des neiges" was passed through Groupaction Gosselin Strategic Communications, one of the Liberal-friendly ad agencies at the centre of the still-unravelling sponsorship program fiasco.
Canada's economy grew at an annualized rate of 1.4 per cent in the last quarter of 2006, marking the weakest quarterly growth in more than three years.

Canadian Heritage is providing this funding to help the ASC offer French-language activities to Canada's minority-language Francophone communities throughout the 2003-04 fiscal year.

 The Government of Canada announces Funding for the Association des Scouts du Canada
The Department of Canadian Heritage provides funding to the ASC, for the 2002-2003 fiscal year, to finance its efforts to provide activities in French to Francophone communities in minority situations in Canada.
Founded in 1969, the ASC provides Canadian youth with an opportunity to practise scouting in French, which contributes to their physical, intellectual, affective, social and spiritual development.
Funding for this project was provided for in the December 2001 federal budget and is therefore built into the existing fiscal framework.
