 Association of British Counties Information
The Association of British Counties (ABC) is one of a small number of outsider pressure groups in the United Kingdom dedicated to promoting the traditional counties of Britain.
ABC claims that the traditional counties are an important part of Britain's cultural heritage and as such should be preserved and promoted.
This point is debatable since the British population is quite mobile and also includes a number of ethnic and social sub-groups, so cultural identification with counties is not universal, although there is evidence of county identification in natives of counties with long-standing rivalries such as Yorkshire and Lancashire.

ABC does not accept that there are any significant benefits (in terms of the identification and administration of preserved counties) in aligning the boundaries of the preserved counties with those of local government.
ABC considers that certain aspects of the local government legislation of 1972 and 1994 have undermined the identities of the 13 historic Counties.
The preserved counties of Dyfed, Gwent, Gwynedd and West Glamorgan are identical to the areas of the "counties" of the LGA 1972 as they existed immediately before the passing of the LG(W)A 1994.

The fundamental failure in athletics to increase participation and improve or even maintain standards throughout the sport over the past eight years must be laid squarely at the door of the current administration, UK Athletics and their stakeholders, Sport England and UK Sport.
It is, of course, desirable and highly worthwhile to have initiatives for the young and aspiring internationals who choose to participate but it requires a greater depth of direct funding for clubs and schools to succeed and far less costly, undemocratic and bureaucratic administrations draining available funding from where it could be best used.
It is because of a UKA's failure to deliver, that the sport has determined to form the Association of British Athletics Clubs (ABAC) to gather together its expertise and by its voice help formulate the proper and better use of any future public funding.
