When oun and asyndeton are used at the beginning of a sentence, they are used instead of de, kai, or a small number of other conjunctions.
Asyndeton, in my view, is the "unmarked" conjunction in expository discourse in the Gospel of John.
The situation with regard to asyndeton in narrative is nevertheless materially quite different from the situation with regard to expository discourse.

Asyndeton is a noncommittal connector, and the reader must supply the relationship to the surrounding material by context.
Blass-Debrunner gives a typical description of the use of asyndeton: a connective device in narrative that indicates ease (not vividness or haste) on the part of the narrator and a device useful for lending solemnity to sayings.
If the basic characteristic of asyndeton is that it tells the reader nothing about the relation between clauses, then its use must be contextually defined.

Asyndeton, on the other hand, separates the compound construction with only commas.
I used the polysyndeton to describe the little girl who was meticulous in her playing; while the example of a little boy who was totally opposite, in his style of play to the girl's style, employed the use of asyndeton.
For example, the most recent we had to do a comparison of two people using asyndeton and/or polysyndeton; the one before we had to use restatement and the first one was illistration.
