The 130XE is compatible with the Atari XL/XE line of computers, but adds an additional 64K of RAM, and a new "Freddy" custom chip to manage the banked memory.
This machine was a step up from the Atari 65XE model.
It was announced simultaneously with Atari's totally new architecture 520ST.

As luck would have it, it was a good choice because a few years later, someone wrote a emulator program for the color version that allowed people to use software written for the monochrome version on their color system.
It was because of that fact that the Atari ST was so popular in the music world that I came into contact with my favorite musical band, Tangerine Dream.

I have an Atari 130XE that, when turned on, it go immediately to memory test and check ram, showing some red blocks.
Atari used a cheaper PCB with them and traces are very easy to pullup on that machine (compared to the XL computers).
Besides the RAM chips, the 130XE uses a chip called Freddie.

You can plug any generic power supply into it as long as the polarity is correct and the specs are fairly close, because the regulator will correct it.

Xformer 2000 is the Atari 8-bit emulator for Windows, made by the same people that brought you the ST Xformer Atari 8-bit emulator for GEM, and the PC Xformer Atari 8-bit emulator for MS-DOS.
All you need is a one half of a fl Atari SIO cable (with the 13-pin connector on one end, bare wires on the other), a DB-25 male connector, and a 4.7K pull up resistor.
In 1996 we stopped manufacturing the cables ourselves but the cables do continue to be made by some Atari dealers such as B and C and others.

 Atari XL/XE Space Harrier Conversion Project
It's being (slowly) developed for the Atari XL and XE series of 8-bit computers with 64KB or more memory, which narrowly missed out on a version at the time due to becoming obsolete.
The goal is to continue to develop and evolve the demo routines into an enhanced cartridge based version of the full game (if not a real cartridge, then at least a cartridge image that will run on emulators).
If you have any interest in Atari consoles or computers I'd thoroughly recommend a visit to AtariAge.

There was a game i used to play on the Atari 130XE system, and if i recall correctly the game was titled DEFCON10...
Problem is I've done many google searches for this game and can't find it for $hit:((I'm pretty sure the game was called Defcon10, but if I'm imagining I'll describe it to you.
I definetely played this on the Atari 130XE.
