The Parish is situated to the south east of Shrewsbury with the River Severn bisecting the Parish.
The village of Atcham is situated six kms east of Shrewsbury on the B4380, which was previously the A5 Trunk road until the Shrewsbury by-pass and M54 extension were built.
Atcham has a post office in the garage, the "Mytton and Mermaid" hotel, bowling green and church.

Atcham was a 9 Group Fighter Command Station operating Spitfires up to mid 1942.
The station was taken over by 14th FG with P-38s, moving to North Africa in November.
from November 1942 to October 1943 Atcham was host to 6th Fighter Wing, as a Combat Crew Replacement Centre, they flew Spitfires and Airacobras, these being replaced with P-47s.
