  Athena Reitano - Athena's Hope
Athena was born 4½ weeks premature and had some health issues at birth, but was given a clean bill of health by the time she was a year old.
Athena was hitting all of the normal physical and mental milestones that she was suppose to, but she wasn't walking.
She said Athena would never walk and life span for the disease was very short.

CD Baby: ATHENA REICH: Stranger Things Have Happened - from womanrock   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Athena's lyrics are as poignant and radical as ever and her voice is as untamed, vituosic and emotionally expressive as her live shows.
Athena Reich doesn't shy away from the dark in the world either, but has this amazing ability to juxtapose harsh content with pretty melodies and sounds so that even in songs with uncomfortable lyrics Athena keeps you locked in and fully engaged and wanting to hear it through.
Athena is staying completely true to her inner voice and what a strange and wonderful voice it is. I hope more singer/songwriters can hear this CD and learn to attack their material with the same commitment and passion.

So when her sister, Athena, a fashion model, calls, urging Julia to take a holiday at her Spanish villa, Julia chucks her job and heads for Spain.
However, during her stay in Spain, Julia realizes that Athena's life doesn't seem to be quite as carefree as she had always assumed, and loud arguments indicate that something is wrong.
In shock, she returns to Spain to sort out the funeral arrangements and discovers amongst her things a key to a safety deposit box, in which are four envelopes, each marked with a name and each containing criminal evidence.

 Athena
Inventor of the flute, the plough and the ox-yoke, the horse bridle and the chariot.
In spite of this birthright of armor, Athena was not known to have a bellicose nature, nor did she bear arms except when her country was threatened or attacked, or when she came to the aid of heroes such as Herakles, Perseus, and Odysseus.
Athena had lent the great shield of polished bronze to Perseus for use as a mirror, so he did not have to look at the gorgon, but only at her reflection.

Athena also found time in between writing and recording her solo debut to record a track for the upcoming, early 2001 Paramount Pictures release "Save The Last Dance." Entitled "All or Nothing," the song is a catchy, up-tempo number that has been included on the movie's accompanying soundtrack.

This CD Mix features songs selected after general observation of music she already likes, a wide selection of tunage that nevertheless has some things in common.
For example, she prefers cheerful to not, she prefers a driving beat to ballads, she (slightly) prefers women's voices to men's, and perhaps not atypically for a five year old, she prefers songs that have damn catchy choruses that she can pick up in a snap.

A song in three languages, a song in dialogue with a You, overlaid with a He, a nameless instance that destroys the dialogue.
The "Jewess Pallas Athena." This shocking phrase demolishes an anchor of National Socialist ideology: the supposed contradiction between "Semitic" and "Indo-European"--what German philology calls "Indo-germanic." Beyond this opposition, something in common is asserted that encompasses both the culture of ancient Greece and the Jewish tradition.

 FRICTION RECORDS: SPIT FOR ATHENA
SPIT FOR ATHENA For an album dominated by ugly and graphic female abuse, distorted and violent psychotic thinking, piercing religious confusion and one tender love song to a transvestite, Spit For Athena¹s self-titled cacophony of candid emo and fuzzy-distorted indie rock sure is encouraging rock¹n¹roll.
Not only does Spit for Athena possess the ability to ram a fistful of noise down your throat with every 3-chord offering, but they manage to combine their attack with such lyrical creativity that their songs literally resonate and refuse to leave your head.
Taking a stream-of-consciousness approach with each song, creating first-person stories of torture, rape, and social lessons in impropriety, and combining them with short bursts of catchy guitar lines, Spit for Athena's tunes are as unsettling as they are subliminal.
