On November 24, 2005, Monsignor Athol Murray, recognized posthumously as a Builder by the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998, was commemorated with a Heritage Toronto plaque, unveiled in front of his childhood home at 445 Euclid Avenue in Toronto.
Athol Murray moved to Saskatchewan in 1926 and the next year, was named the parish priest at what would become Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, a non-denominational school that welcomed students regardless of religion or financial status.
Murray died in 1975 and Notre Dame was re-named the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame.

TAMPA - As Brad Richards remembers, his first conversation with Vinny Lecavalier about winning the Stanley Cup came when they were 14 years old in a dorm room at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Saskatchewan.
Richards remembered another in June 1999 when he stayed for the summer with his best friend at Lecavalier's rented house outside Montreal and they watched on television as Stars defenseman Derian Hatcher carried the Cup after Dallas' triple-overtime defeat of the Sabres.
The 24-year-old centers have been attached at the hip since their days at Notre Dame.
