The work is scored for soprano, tenor and baritone soloists, chorus, boys' choir, organ, and two orchestras (a full orchestra and a chamber orchestra).
The soprano soloist and choir are accompanied by the full orchestra, the baritone and tenor soloists are accompanied by the chamber orchestra, and the boys' choir is accompanied by a small portative organ (this last group ideally being situated at some distance from the full orchestra).
The soprano and choir, as well as the boys` choir sing the traditional Latin Requiem text while the tenor and baritone sing poems by Wilfred Owen, interspersed throughout.

Originally organized by the Atlanta Music Club in 1939, the amateur chorus gained a position of importance in the musical life of metropolitan Atlanta, and today is one of the oldest and most widely recognized independent choral groups in the United States.
In 1947, with the pre-war personnel as a nucleus, the Atlanta Music Club and the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists co-sponsored a revival of the organization, which was renamed Choral Guild of Atlanta.
Atlanta newspapers stated that this “musical triumph” was received with “thunderous appreciation” by the overflow audiences.

The Boston Boy Choir is the performing arts arm of the Boston Archdiocesan Choir School operated under the auspices of Saint Paul Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The boys have sung with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Symphony Hall, at Tanglewood, and in Carnegie Hall.
The Choir has twice toured Washington, DC singing at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, at St. Matthew Cathedral, and at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

We had every boy in grades three through eight singing several times a week and in a matter of months developed a boy choir that was unbelievable.
I have agreed to be Artist-in-Residence at Kennesaw State University and Visiting Professor of Choral and Vocal Studies at The Glinka Choir College in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Sadly, many of our boys are no longer with us and we cherish our memories of those with whom we loved and shared too brief a time.

Remarks by Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Borders, music by the Atlanta Boy Choir and an appearance by Frederick Law Olmsted himself highlighted the dedication and official opening of the newly renovated Springdale Park on Tuesday afternoon, May 2, 2006.
The Atlanta Boy Choir Intermediate Choir sang several selections "chosen for a sunny day in the park," according to Director David White.  Pianist Rosemary White accompanied the group, whose headquarters are across from Springdale Park on South Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Landscape architect Spencer Tunnell was aboard to describe the progress  in restoring the park and to discuss plans for Deepdene, the sixth and last segment to be renovated.

The Michael O'Neal Singers will appear with the Atlanta Boy Choir and the Atlanta Sacred Chorale to present the 16th annual Denese Irvin Memorial Concert, February 26 at Emory University's Schwartz Center on the Emory University campus.
Denese Irvin was a young music educator in the Atlanta area who was tragically killed in an automobile accident just prior to the first rehearsal of the newly-founded Gwinnett Festival Singers.
This year, the Atlanta Boy Choir and The Michael O'Neal Singers are featured along with ASC.

 The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta
(ATLANTA) – Today nine metro area arts organizations received a total of $500,000 given by the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund at its annual luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, downtown.
The Arts Fund, a partnership of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce provides “stabilization” grants exclusively to small and mid-sized arts organizations with annual operating budgets of less than $1.5 million.
“These organizations are the core of Atlanta’s arts scene and it is absolutely critical to fund them, improve their health for the long term and showcase their value and contribution to the community,” said Lisa Cremin, executive director of the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund.
