The Pacific-10 is calling for the relaxation of the transfer rule, which now requires basketball and Division I-A football players, as well as those in men's hockey, to sit a season after transferring to another school (unless a football transfer is to a I-AA school).
If anything summed up a year of change at the top of the Southern Conference last fall it was this: Champion Wofford made the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs; longtime powers Appalachian State, Furman and Georgia Southern did not.
