Atomic Rooster are a new British trio that serve as a prime example of Rock Nouveau at its most elaborately pretentious.
Atomic Rooster are predicated on a kind of techniqueflaying that's seldom modest enough in its aims to be eloquent and ends up just generally shrill.
The final caution is that the combination of stylistic heebee-jeebies and mundane production have left the album as a whole and especially the vocals with a dense, even muddy texture that's not helpful at all.

Suffice to say that the album does have it's moments where the production techniques of the day date it somewhat however the overall feel and sound of the album still manages to sound pretty contemporary and Vincent Crane's Hammond playing is as good as anything you will hear in the progressive rock genre.
Atomic Rooster would continue for a further three or four years but never sounded as good as they did on these two albums.
The legacy he left behind however with Atomic Rooster is a sizeable one and one that is still influencing musicians to this day which is a fitting tribute to the man and his music.

Like most punk-pop bands, they survive on a blend of energy, attitude, and craft, not innovation, which isn't a bad thing if all you're looking for is a good little rock and roll record, like their third album, Atomic.
Yes, it's not as pure as a Weezer record (which seems to be the template for most of this album) nor is it as wildly imaginative as a Supergrass album or as solid as a Green Day platter, but the band rocks pretty hard throughout the album and they have pretty catchy hooks.
Essentially, Lit is a journeyman punk-pop band, lacking any real distinctions, but they do their job well, without much muss or fuss, and without innovating.

The final Atomic Rooster album, from 1980, caught the group riding the crest of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and loving every minute of it.
Reconstituted around founders Vincent Crane and John Du Cann, plus drummer Preston Heyman, the group signed with EMI and set about cutting an album that -- if it wasn't exactly a match for the peerless pair that launched Atomic Rooster's career a decade previously, was at least the best thing they'd done since then.
Even then, however, Atomic Rooster packs a punch that broods as much as it bruises, and the band's first new album in six years emerged a vastly unexpected triumph.

U2 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (Album Review)
Of course, the latest garage-rock revival could be credited with giving U2 the opportunity to begin anew without seeming out of touch with the record-buying public, and sprinkled throughout the collection are more than a few tutorials for The White Stripes, The Hives, and The Strokes to follow.
Consequently, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is one of the most diverse outings of U2’s distinguished career, though strangely enough, it also is the band’s most risk-averse effort.
Lyrically, too, the ensemble rummages through its usual array of themes: Its songs are about life, death, war, peace, religion, sex, money, and politics, and all of them are enveloped within the vague haze of a giant, "all you need is love" embrace.

U2 has stopped trying to target the youth market with a Dorian Gray-type willfulness except, of course, in the leadoff track, "Vertigo," which was licensed for an iPod commercial in a blatant attempt to stay au courant.

was the divorce album, Atomic Bomb is the marriage album, and reflected in Bono’s marriage to Ali is the singer’s marriage to God.
That might appear to be the band’s self-interest speaking (who wants to buy a “crap album”?), but it still takes humility to serve anyone (even rock fans), and the hard work that produced the double-barreled art of U2’s last two albums needs not only a touch of grace but the cooperation of courage.
For instance, on the record, the lyric for "All Because of You" seems to have God as its intercessory goal, but the accompanying book makes this plain: the I AM of the song is the Judeo-Christian God revealed to Moses in the Burning Bush on Sinai.

Unlike many young American jazz musicians who appear stifled by the so-called 'jazz tradition', Atomic regard the American and European jazz traditions as an inspiration rather than a restriction, a jumping off point to realise their own direction and place in the music.

How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, the long-awaited 2004 sequel to ATYCLB, proves that this retreat was no mere fling: the band is committed to turning back the clock and acting like the '90s never happened.
Essentially, U2 are trying to revirginize themselves, to erase their wild flirtation with dance clubs and postmodernism so they can return to the time they were the social conscience of rock music.
Gone are the heavy dance beats, gone are the multiple synthesizers, gone are the dense soundscapes that marked their '90s albums, but U2 are so concerned with recreating their past that they don't know where to stop peeling away the layers.
