Topic: Atrocity (band)

In the News (Mon 28 May 12)

Atrocity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An atrocity (from the Latin atrox, "atrocious", from Latin ater = "matte fl" (as distinct from niger = "shiny fl")) is a term used to describe crimes ranging from an act committed against a single person to one committed against a population or ethnic group.
In modern settings not involving ethnic conflict, atrocities on individual leaders are rare, partially because they tend backfire or simply escalate, as in the case of Breaker Morant.
Lincoln considered responding with executions in-kind for every Black Union solider murdered on the field, but he recognized that the problem was a difference in point of view between the two sides that would lead to a spiraling of escalation in the inevitable tit-for-tat that would follow.

ATROCITY became a household name to the fans of Electro and Darkwave with this hit.
In 1997, ATROCITY decided to explore new musical ground: The intention of “Werk 80” was to mutate the pop classics of the 80s into ATROCITY songs.

Atrocity are close to celebrating their second decade of being a band and "Atlantis" comes to us after a three year hiatus.

Atrocity definitely has plenty to offer with what I believe is their latest (concept) album,
Normally a death metal band takes a big risk when adding clean vocals into the mix, and sometimes they are done so poorly that it ruins the whole song.
Even though this is my first time listening to Atrocity, they come off as the kind of band who changes their sound with each album, and is constantly adding new elements to their music.

The band's prolonged tenacity finally paid rewards when they achieved their first chart album, 'Werk 80' entering the German placings at number 33, the sales figures for which must in some respect be married to a tasteful advertising campaign featuring the two models chosen for the single and album artwork.

The vanity of the young Indians was inflated by their success, as was shown by some exultant messages; and the sagacious old chief, whatever he may have previously calculated upon, now saw that war was inevitable and immediate.
With his band recruited by warriors from the Prophet's band, he crossed to the north side of Rock river, and, passing through the swamp Koshkenong, fled over the prairies west of the Four Lakes, toward Wisconsin river.
