Revenge of the Mutant Camels - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A sequel of sorts to Attack of the Mutant Camels (also known as Advance of the Mega-Camels), this time the player controls a camel (hence, presumably, the 'Revenge' in the title).
The camel is armed by default with small spheres of blue energy, but can obtain other weapons and weapon upgrades by collecting power-ups during the game.
The point of the game was unclear although it featured a host of utterly bizarre enemies, including: British telephone boxes, Polo mints, exploding sheep, and skiing kangaroos.

Jeff Minter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His fondness of llamas, sheep, camels etc. often leads to them appearing in his games or the titles ( Llamatron, Llamazap, Attack of the Mutant Camels, Revenge of the Mutant Camels, Sheep in Space, etc.).
His first game through Llamasoft was Andes Attack (US version: Aggressor): a Defender clone for the Commodore VIC-20, but with little llamas instead of spaceships (a great fan of Defender he would remake it again, and better, as Defender 2000).
His second Llamasoft game, Gridrunner, was written in a week and was his first real success both in the UK and in the USA.

Attack Of The Mutant Camels for Commodore 64, not rated
The camels start off yellow but as you bombard them with laser fire they change colour until they are eventually destroyed.
In this game you fly in your spaceship and shoot at gigantic mutant camels who are trying to attack your base.

Attack of the Mutant Camels - Reader Review - GameFAQs
AMC demonstrates this point nicely, for the player is put in a starfighter with only one purpose: to save the galaxy from an attacking horde of huge mutant camels.
The bullets the camels fire at you act strangely too, because when you start scrolling the screen while a bullet is on it, it will go completely out of whack, turning weird angles, speeding up and slowing down, and generally becoming unpredictable.
AMC's style of gameplay appears to have been inspired by the arcade hit Defender.

So it was that a brave group of Mutant Camels set out across the deep blue sands of Phensyk III with the avowed intention of taking over the planetoid for earth.
YOUR OBJECTIVE Your aim is to win through as many of the 42 attack waves as you can, scoring as many points as possible along the way.

Attack of the Mutant Camels was released on the C64 and the Spectrum in 1983.
As Llamasoft games go, Attack of the Mutant Camels is a pretty easy game to understand.
Collisions with the camels can be turned on or off, which seems like a very good idea to me, because avoiding bullets AND camels whilst tying to shoot straight can be a bit demanding on the old grey matter.

 Attack of the Mutant Camels
Attack of the Mutant Camels for the Atari was a lot prettier and more smooth than its Commodore counterpart.
The camels, although rather chunky, were at least more camel-shaped than the ones in the C64 version; the background scroll was smoother, and the horizons were really nice, due to the judicious use of Display List Interrupts on the Atari, and all the nice colour one could use on those machines.
The camels also broke up in rather nice Robotron-style explosions when you offed them.

MobyGames - Attack of the Mutant Camels (HesWare)
Attack of the Mutant Camels is sequel to Gridrunner.
As you start shooting the camels, you are attacked by guns from the bottom of the screen and from the left side of the screen.
And as you advance in level, the enemy changes the direction of their attack.

Home of the Underdogs - Entry: Revenge of the Mutant Camels
If you have played Attack of the Mutant Camels before (it is also on this site), you know what to expect here: plenty of weird and wacky enemies, addictive nonstop gameplay, and a unique brand of Yak humor that encompasses flying camels, crazy llamas that run at you on two hind legs, and more.
Revenge of the Mutant Camels is a great PC remake of classic Commodore 64/Spectrum game of the same name, released as shareware by the author in 1994 but has since been released into the public domain.
I was feeling well guilty about the fact that the camels got shot up in AMC, as camels are in fact llovely beasties, so I made them the heroes of this game.

Attack of The Mutant Camels download @ Game Downloads
The concept is simple - shoot the camels, you need to hit them a few times, you see how close their robot part is to exploding by looking at its color, it will change after a few hits till it finally goes off in an explosion and the camel (dromedarian actually) runs away without it.
Your mission is to disable the camels' cybernetic implants by shooting them, to free the captive dromedaries, who afterwards will gallop happily towards the safety of your base.
The camels are not particularly well-drawn, and in fact look more like two fat men in a pantomime camel suit than proper camels.

Desertplanet - Attack of the Mutant Mirages [commie 078]
Presumably named after Jeff Minter's classic 'Attack Of The Mutant Camels' game, this is super-catchy, weird-melodied, beepy retro videogame bossa nova to die for - an interesting change in style for Commie, and a great release to boot.
If you have to ask, which game is in question, you probably don't belong in the target group of this mighty online multimedia content publishing release phenomenon.

AMC stands for Attack of the mutant camels.
Stop the attack of those crazy camels, shoot and blow them up before they reach your zone.
To your assistance you got your small spaceship that shoots really tiny laser-beams so it will take a couple of beams to blow those camels out of this world.

The sequel to the classic 'Attack of the Mutant Camels', has you piloting one of the camels, and tasked with traversing through the 42 sectors, in an attempt to simply just to survive.
With the varied and fast attacking patterns of the enemies, and the constant action, this is a very well designed and programmed title, which will keep you engrossed for a very long period of time.
With the earth under siege from gigantic mutated camels, you're the only one who is able to stop them, before they trundle to the other side of the map.

Such classics as Return Of The Mutant Camels and Revenge Of The Mutant Camels, along with Attack Of The Mutant Camels, can all be grabbed without fear of retribution.
While some of the current games available for download are a tad obscure, we were pleasantly surprised to see a number of Llamasoft titles up there.
The one snag is that, to play a lot of the titles, you'll need to have emulation software.

GameWeb - Classic Commodore games on the web
One of the more bizarre software producers in the early 1980s were Llamasoft, creators of such weird classic games as Attack of the Mutant Camels.
Among the games you will find in there are Attack of the Mutant Camels, Llamatron and Ancipital.
The master-mind behind most of the games, Jeff Minter (who prefer to go by the alias of "Yak") is also the creator of a bizarre web site, of which I am not going to give a full review, but it is sure worth to have a look at.

Other contestants are a collection of humorous characters from different nations, such as Aslak the Lapp; Naranja, who is president of the South American Llama League; and Nepalese guru Pangg, who has been on a spiritual quest for a perfect race since 1962.
Turbo Camels is a good game, but the concept could definitely have been taken further.
The game itself is quite hard, because steering the camel is not easy at all.

 GameSpy.com - Interview
With such delightful classics as Attack of the Mutant Camels, Llamatron, and more recently, Tempest 2000, Minter is a rare breed indeed.
Jeff Minter: Well, to compress it heavily: founded Llamasoft in 1982, working primarily on Vic-20, C=64, and sometimes on the 8-bit Atari; best known in the U.S. from that era are probably Gridrunner, Laser Zone, and Attack of the Mutant Camels which were released by HES.
Then moved on to the ST and Amiga (most memorable games on those platforms probably Llamatron and Revenge of the Mutant Camels).

 sheep.txt
For quite a while, I've been a fan of Jeff Minter, programmer of genius video games such as Tempest 2000 or Attack Of The Mutant Camels.
He keeps goats and a sheep ("Flossie") as pets, his software "company" is called Llamasoft, his alias is "The YaK" and, apart from the aforementioned titles, he created other wacky things such as "Sheep In Space", "Revenge Of The Mutant Camels", "Llama Zap!", "Tempest 3000", "Llamatron" and quite a number of others.
The whole thing didn't really start, though, until I sent a certain picture of me with long hair to some friends at Kali (http://www.kali.net/).

I personally was introduced to his stuff with "Attack of the Mutant Camels" (AT-AT sized Camels, you are in a small spaceship - go figure).
I can't remember where I read this (maybe at Nintendophiles.com), but I think this game is only due out 2005-2006...so if that's the case we probably won't see much of this game for a while.
