Ross, when cornered with a particularly tricky question, gave a decidely slippery answer consisting only of "...I'm thinking." Conversation with Ross casts a clearer light on what 12 Rounds is about, and from where it has been derived.
While both Sarne and Ross were positive about their time outside of there country, they did voice their opinions of the state of popular music in a very straightforward manner.
Ross preempted several of his comments with with the statement that he had been born in the United States and had lived in the states.

Atticus recruited his younger brother Leopold Ross to play drums and Bad Religion member and Epitaph Records owner Brett Gurewitz to play guitar and bass.

In the dimly lit cocktail lounge of New York's ancient Gramercy Park Hotel, I encounter Atticus Ross (28) and Claudia Sarne (26) of the gothic cabaret-cum-lounge band, 12 Rounds.
Fortunately, Atticus Ross was sitting closer to me, and has a louder voice.
The thing is, what I do and what Atticus does, if we were left to our own devices, both of us would produce that same thing.

Atticus Ross, like the Army, does more before noon (or midnight as the case might be) than most of us do in a year.
Add to that Ross’ programming and instrumentation for bands like Bad Religion, Rancid, and Error, as well as remixes for The Transplants and Dillinger Escape Plan, and you have a man with a full dance card.
What is surprising is that he took some time to explain to us the process used for recording the synths on With Teeth.

Falsely marketed to the punk rock crowd as "punk rock with machines" and "electro-hardcore-punk," Error is really straight industrial with Brett Gurewitz's name attached for punk cred, or possibly because the industrial crowd knows better.
Don't think "punk" as in "guitars," think "punk" as "in your face." The band is mostly made of Atticus Ross (a former NIN programmer) with guest vocals by Greg Puciato (of the Dillinger Escape Plan).

One of Trent Reznor's latest signings to his Nothing label, 12 Rounds, tends to combine NIN's electro-rock with Marilyn Manson's horror musings on their second album, Big Hero.
Singer Claudia Sarne's voice can best be described as a possessed Patti Smith, while Atticus Ross programs mostly creepy music as an accompaniment (such as the album's opener, "Come On In Out of the Rain").
What sets 12 Rounds apart from most of the electro-rock pack is that they don't partake of the over-the-top noise approach.

The beneficiaries of a ridiculously large recent record contract, Korn have a lot riding on their first album since losing guitarist Brian "Head" Welch to born-again Christianity.
Korn have never shied away from studio slickness, but here they employ not only Trent Reznor collaborator Atticus Ross but also the Matrix, the teen-pop production team behind Avril Lavigne and other shameless puffballs.
Although longtime fans may freak, this match is a far better fit than when the Matrix overproduced Liz Phair: See You invigorates Korn's downtuned wallop without losing its menacing essence, and drum-heavy tracks like "Twisted Transistor" muster the radio hooks the last few Korn discs lacked.
