Topic: Attila opera

La Fenice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Its name reflects its role in permitting an opera company to "rise from the ashes" despite losing the use of two theatres (to fire and legal problems respectively).
La Fenice was inaugurated on May 16, 1792 with an opera by Giovanni Paisiello entitled I Giochi di Agrigento.
It reopened on 14 December 2003 with an inaugural concert of Beethoven, Wagner, and Stravinsky.

 Attila
Attila was a 2001 mini series which won the honor of being the most watched mini-series of its day.
In ATTILA, he portrays "Attila's" older brother "Bleda." Their well orchestrated duel to the death from horseback over who shall rule the Hun Empire after "King Rua's" demise (Steven Berkoff) will in itself keep the viewer not only riveted to the set but re-running the scene over again and again.
ATTILA is historically sound, well acted with performances also given by actors Tim Curry as "Theodosius," Simmone Jade MacKinnon as "N'Kara" and Reg Rogers as "Valentinian." USA Network's ATTILA deserves a five star rating.

 Attila the Hun
Attila earlier appeared (as Atli) in the Lay of Atli in the Norse Poetic Edda, one of the sources of the Nibelungenlied, but there, he was the avaricious and evil husband of Gudrun.
Both of these "northern" tales of Attila are loosely based on two events that most historians don't dispute: A Burgundian king, Gundahar (or Gunther or Gunnar), and his followers were defeated and killed by the Huns in 437, and Attila died in 453 after marrying the German girl.
Attila had lost battles before, but he had always found softer targets, refilled his war chest, done some local recruiting, and hit the comeback trail.
