Sigurdson, 87, who grew up in Ballard, is a retired longshoreman who worked until age 70.
Sigurdson spurned recruiting overtures from Washington in order to play at PLU because the scholarship offer from the smaller school was better.
To find him these days, Sigurdson and his wife, who raised a daughter, Lena, and have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, spend their mornings at Northgate Mall, eating breakfast at the Food Court and watching people scurry past.

 Auburn Sigurdson Information
Auburn Sigurdson (born April 6, 1981 in White Rock, British Columbia) is a Canadian softball pitcher.
She was a part of the Canadian Softball team who finished 5th at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Both Auburn and her sister, Jesse, are pitchers and played together for SFU in 2003 and won NAIA national championships.

During the 2004 Olympics held in Athens, Greece, Sigurdson and Team Canada finished fifth overall, while Sigurdson was clocked at 69 MPH, the second fastest pitcher in the world.

It was an odd game from the first pitch and I am proud of the way the players handled each situation and moved forward.
