 | | After SPARC was established, the need for more effective regional coordination in the planning and provision of sport, recreation and leisure was identified as a key requirement. |
 | | Improved collaboration and cooperation across regions and sectors was identified as a priority to bring the issues of the region into focus, reduce fragmentation of effort, leverage skills, grow leadership capability and better utilise resources. |
 | | As a result, a working group was established by the eight local authorities in the Auckland region, the four regional sports trusts, the Ministry of Health and SPARC, which has led to the development of this strategy. |
