		Tom Kristensen and Rinaldo Capello held off Champion Racing to win the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in the #2 Audi R8 with only a one minute margin of victory after racing for 1,000 miles around Road AtlantaÂ’s 2.54-mile circuit.
		The second full-course caution was one hour into the race, and on the restart the #1 car was still leading, with Frank Biela now driving, and Rinaldo Capello in the #2 Audi began pushing back up to second, passing both the Panoz and the Riley & Scott.
		Kristensen started the race and the car slid from second to fourth as first Dyson Racing went past and then Jan Magnussen in one of the Panoz LMP01 machines moved into third.

		Alboreto's Audi R8 was going down a straight section of the circuit, when the car suddenly spun off the track, hit a fence and somersaulted several times before finally coming to a halt.
		Just a week after Michele Alboreto lost his life on the Lausitzring track, this safe German track was paradoxically the scene of another tragic fatality: on Thursday May 3rd, 2001, a marshal was killed after being hit by a car, during a private test session for a German sportscar race.
		Audi is so far at a loss regarding what sort of mechanical failure made Alboreto's Audi R8 suddenly spin and overturn many times in the middle of a straight.

		Nevertheless the Audi trio with their ill handling car defended a margin of just five tenths of a second to the leading Panoz to the finish line.

	Champion Racing at Le Mans 2003
		running of the annual 24Heures du Mans with its regular Audi R8 “open-top” sportscar that it campaigns in the American Le Mans Series.
		Each will normally drive in “stints” lasting between two and three hours, at speeds in excess of 200mph, in a capacity, “invited” 50-car entry that caters for five different categories which in itself will keep the Champion Audi drivers focussed in terms of frequently lapping slower cars.
		Le Mans requires as much preparation and puts as much stress as a complete racing season into one race for the teams and the one best able to handle these conditions will win the race.
