Audience (head of state) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An Audience is a formal meeting that takes place between a head of state and another person at the invitation of the head of state.
Though sometimes used in republics to describe meetings with presidents, the term Audience is more usually associated with monarchs and popes.
In the United Kingdom, Audiences with the British monarch are usually listed in the Court Circular, which is published daily by the broadsheet press.

In parliamentary systems the Head of State may be merely the nominal chief executive officer of the state, possessing theoretical executive power (hence the description of the United Kingdom monarch's government as Her Majesty's Government, a term indicating that the government acts on her behalf and not parliament's).
A Head of State is generally the notional or literal commander-in-chief of a state's armed forces, holding the highest office in all military chains of command.
In a monarchy, the monarch is the Head of State.

 Head of State
By ROLAND E. Though fun at times, "Head of State" is really just a pale imitation of "Bullworth," with Chris Rock as the "candidate of the people" who ends up running for President of the United States.
"Head of State" provides a few good laughs, but the film, as a whole, feels woefully unimaginative and predictable.
"Head of State" is good for a few hearty chuckles, but for those of us yearning for some real hard-edged political satire in this country, it fails to satisfy the craving.

Audience surrogate   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
In the study of literature, an audience surrogate is a character who expresses the questions and confusion of the reader.
In detective fiction, the audience surrogate is usually a minor character that asks a central character how he or she accomplished certain deeds, for the purpose of inciting that character to explain (for the curious audience) his or her methods.
In science fiction, the audience surrogate frequently takes the form of a child or other uninformed person, asking a relatively educated person to explain what amounts to the backstory.

Head of State Movie Review at Hollywood Video
He travels from state to state, blandly informing every demographic he meets that they're the "real heart of America." But, since Mays is played by Rock, you know it's a just a matter of time until his motormouth kicks into overdrive.
Head of State shows Rock's continued growth as an actor; he seems much more relaxed and looser here than in previous films like Down to Earth (2001) and Nurse Betty (2000).
In Head of State, he's somewhat tentative, particularly in his love scenes with Tamala Jones, and doesn't hold the camera like his scene-stealing co-star Bernie Mac.

Xiibaro Reviews: Dreamcatcher, Head of State, and Basic
Head of State is predominately clichés, though this is not why the film fails to ever reach its potential as a great political comedy like Bulworth or Dave.
Watching the film, one gets the impression that he wants to convince the audience that there is more to his film beyond the flaccid script, but fails to generate enough steam (especially when the situation is overshadowed by its unctuous nature) to convince anyone that the film is any less shallow.
Regardless of my vocalized problems with the film, I cannot put into words the absolute disdain for the audience the film shows in its final fifteen minutes, most of which moves from twist to twist to twist as if the audience is meant to gasp at the genius of it all.

Insofar as the recent film Head of State may be seen as that sequel, the result is extremely disappointing, carried to a level of vulgarity that defeats the possibility that the public will realize that there is an alternative to politics as usual.
Writer-director Rock instead demonstrates his ignorance of political realities by settling for infrequent cheap laughs (not even cheap shots), stereotypic politicians and their advisers, and a promise that a Head of State II may feature a President Gilliam as an utter fool.

In Head of State, the latest Hollywood comedy of cultural manners that reinforces the stereotype that white people just don't know how to "get jiggy with it," Mays Gilliam (Chris Rock) is forced to run for president with his brother Mitch (Bernie Mac) as his running mate.
Head of State is only concerned with false election results which, in the end, makes it particulary useless.
