It is named after one of a set of colour-bound books that contain the technical specifications for all CD and CD-ROM formats.
The first edition of the Red Book was released in June 1980 by Philips and Sony; it was adopted by the Digital Audio Disc Committee and ratified as IEC 908.
The Red Book specifies the physical parameters and properties of the CD, the optical "stylus" parameters, deviations and error rate, modulation system and error correction, and subcode channels and graphics.

I do like listening to audio books while doing things which don’t take a lot of concentration, and my tastes are eclectic and never predictable.

Audio books are expensive and unabridged titles can often cost over $100 each.
One reviewer thought this book was not as good as McKinty's first book (Hidden River is his third), Dead I Well May Be, but says that should not be held against this "solid, sordid crime story." If you like Frank McCourt, you'll like McKinty.
Because I have enjoyed the PBS television mystery series about Colin Dexter's Inspector Morse I thought that I might also like audio books by this author, and I very much did enjoy the first book I chose, which was this one (unabridged).

It took awhile to connect the two voices because my first assumption was that the narrator was of chinese descent and grew up speaking or at least around some asia language because the untranslated words and names were so well pronounced.
I give her comments great weight because by the age of eighteen she was a serving as a translator French-English translator for a major chemical company and in her twenties spent three years with me living in Spain.
When mentioned in Kurlansky's book it is pronounced with the English pronounciation of "an-du-loos-ya".
