 SPACE.com -- Space Station Astronauts Prepare for Aug. 3 Spacewalk
ISS astronauts rehearse a spacewalk planned for Aug. 3, 2006 inside NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, an immense pool that houses full-size space station and shuttle mockups near Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
Thomas Reiter will step into their U.S.-built Extravehicular Mobility Units (EMUs) as practice for an Aug. 3 spacewalk to ready the station's primary cooling system for activation during an upcoming NASA shuttle mission.
Kirk Shireman, NASA's deputy space station program manager, said the Aug. 3 spacewalk is the first of no less than eight EVAs dedicated to support ISS construction between visiting shuttle missions.

However, software pirates who download Doom 3 may be in for a surprise when the game fails to install on their system, as the hardware requirements are substantial.
It's clear how much work has gone into Doom 3 and I find it a shame that some people will use this as an opportunity to avoid paying for one of the few PC games that really excels.
My PC is running Doom 3 at Ultra high, with 1024x78 and I have from 30 to 40 fps.

September 3, 2001 I returned to Big Island Wildlife Area this afternoon with high hopes after yesterday, but it was another serious disappointment for my shorebird photography this fall.
I saw no nighthawks during this stay (Aug 23-28), although this may not accurately reflect migration since I was asleep 3 evenings (1 additional evening had rain) when nighthawks would be passing through.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Visitors to the Statue of Liberty, closed to the public after the Sept. 11 attacks because of security concerns, will not be allowed up the cramped circular metal staircase into the crown when the 151-foot symbol in New York Harbor reopens on Aug. 3.
For the first time, visitors will need reservations for tours at specific times, in an effort to eliminate the hours-long lines that marked most trips to see the 118-year-old statue.
I think every American should have the opportunity to climb those stairs and look out that crown at least once in their life...

TO solve 90% of the problems with doom 3 you will want to assure you strictly meet the system requirements as well as have the latest drivers for your MOTHERBOARD (chipset and Gart), Video Card, Sound Card, and the latest Direct X version.
This can also be caused for the reason DOOM 3 uses ALOT of your CORE that 99.9% of the other games do not use.
3) Check your video card settings and make sure AA is off and other performance effecting settings are off.

Baltimore (IOCC) — Riding past the fertile plains of the American Midwest in August, the cyclists of the "Race to Respond" won't have a hard time imagining the plowed fields of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the rocky, irrigated soil of Palestine or the monastery farms of Ethiopia.
Their goal in riding 3,500 miles in 25 days is to raise awareness and support for the people served by International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) in places such as Bosnia, the West Bank and Ethiopia.
The cycling team, made up of five Orthodox Christians, joins thousands of volunteers and donors who, in the past 10 years, have made it possible for IOCC to extend assistance to impoverished communities around the world.

The makers of St. Lucie County's only air rescue helicopter are picking apart the aircraft engine in hopes of finding some clues to why the engine malfunctioned during a training flight two months ago and forced the pilot to make a hard landing.
Two pilots and a flight medic who were aboard were not hurt in the Aug. 3 incident and the helicopter had only minor damage, but it has since been grounded.
Sheriff's deputy Jeffrey Schoner was piloting the helicopter Aug. 3 for a late-night training exercise with another pilot and a medic.

This city's superintendent of schools, who recently put two dozen teachers on unpaid leave for failing a basic English proficiency test, has himself flunked a required literacy test three times.
Since 1998, all Massachusetts educators -- from teachers to superintendents -- have had to pass the Communications and Literacy Skills Test, which measures basic reading and writing skills, including vocabulary, punctuation, grammar, spelling and capitalization.
Laboy, who receives a 3 percent pay hike this month that will raise his salary to $156,560, recently put 24 teachers on unpaid administrative leave because they failed a basic English test.

In order not to have this sound like a 'performance' I got him to do 3 vocals, all at different pitches, and mixed 'em together to get that weird vocal effect.
I had been listening to public radio a lot at nights but because I lived with roommates at the time I had to keep the stereo volume low, lower, lowest, to the point where if it wasn't a huge smashing 3 trumpet symphony it would be almost inaudible.
I did 3 covers that session and picked the best one..the other two were, uh, a Robyn Hitchcock song and a Prince song.
