For the past few weeks, the high-technology industry and Wall Street analysts have been listening anxiously for any hints about whether the government might sue Microsoft over the company's plans to weave the software for reaching its new on-line service into its much-trumpeted operating system, Windows 95.
But yesterday, like a software company behind schedule as it tries to work out the bugs in a new program, the government said that it would not be held to that date.
Microsoft, in a prepared statement, said that it was "pleased" that the government had removed the uncertainty about whether it would have to delay the launch of the new operating system.

Year three of the Guy Morriss Era at Baylor begins with the opening of fall camp on Aug. 8 in preparation for the Bears' Sept. 3 season-opener at former Southwest Conference rival SMU in Dallas.
He ranked No. 8 among all 2004 Big 12 signal callers in pass efficiency rating with a 118.1 mark and started three games (Texas A&M, at Texas Tech, at Oklahoma State) before breaking his left hand (non-throwing) early in the Oklahoma State game and then missing the Oklahoma contest.
That figure is also 8 points higher than Baylor's general student population and 16 points better than the NCAA Division I national average of 62 percent.

Results of the Hwy 47 Time Trial Aug 8, 2003 99 degree temperatures meant trouble with the heat for some.
But the complete absence of any wind also meant fairly fast conditions for those who were well hydrated, and a couple of PRs and near PRs were produced.
He'll tell you it's because he's training for the 40K distance at state TT championships on Aug 23/24 in Navasota (see www.txbra.org for details) but we really think it's because he's so happy to be back home in the heat and the flatlands from his vacation in the Grand Tetons.
