Klingon augment virus - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki
The Klingon augment virus was a modified form of Levodian flu that threatened to wipe out the Klingon race in the mid-22nd century.
Around this time, the writing staff had recently concluded the three-part Augment Crisis arc, and it occurred to them that some of the genetically-engineered embryos might have survived the destruction of the Bird of Prey, and that the Klingons might use these embryos to bio-engineer their own version of "Klingon supermen".
In "Divergence", the female Laneth, newly infected by the Augment virus, claimed that she "felt fear for the first time since I was a child." Her fellow augmented warriors had "become like (humans)...

Augment (Star Trek) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Enterprise, Augments were introduced in "Borderland" and were the focus of a three-episode story arc that continued in "Cold Station 12" and "The Augments".
Augments, a group of genetically engineered "supermen", born in the late 1960s as the result of an ambitious project to improve the human race.
Arik Soong was director of the facility, and stole 19 of the embryos.

BICmd Augments Provide Ongoing Support for OIF II
The BICmd augments have combined with the Marines, Sailors, government employees, and civilian contractors that comprise BICmd to complete the reconstitution process that began almost a year ago.
BICmd also had to plan for the workflow between the primary contractor and the augment Marines, as well as ensure the proper parts, supplies and tools needed to support all the additional work being done were available and in place.
A big portion of the reconstitution work the BICmd augments have been toiling to complete is the extensive replenishment and maintenance of the MPF equipment that was not completed in Kuwait.

RPG Expert - EverQuest - LDoN Augments Explained   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
Augments type 3 are meant for Ldon PURCHASED gear.
The dropped Ldon augments are worthless btw, unless you are not planning on immersing yourself in Ldon, then they are a nice small upgrade to your typical gear.
The reason they did this was to cap the total augmenting you can do for one piece of armor.

Elsewhere, the augment Malik tells Doctor Arik Soong that their stolen Klingon Bird-of-Prey has passed into Klingon space.
Soong is furious when Malik reveals that Archer is dead and threatens to lock the augment in the Bird-of-Prey's targ pit for a month if he disobeys another order.
Dr. Soong says to Archer while incapacitated in Enterprise's brig that if his augments kill the Klingons at the Qu'Vat colony, it will make "the Xindi incident look like a lover's quarrel." This may be a reference to when the Xindi superweapon was destroyed, Valentine's Day, 2154.

The Augments (Enterprise episode) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Augments" is the third part of a three episode story arc involving the return of Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation) as the criminal mastermind Dr. Arik Soong, an ancestor of the scientist who created Data.
References are made to the Botany Bay and Khan Noonien Singh, which, in the timeline of the Star Trek universe, would later be encountered by Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 in the Star Trek episode, Space Seed.
Possibly as a nod to the events in the earlier film, the final moments of the stolen Klingon Bird of Prey mirror those of the USS Reliant in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, although, unlike Khan, Malik would escape the destruction of his stolen vessel (presumeably via transporter).

Soong explains that he is altering the genetic structure of the embryos to remove their innate aggression.
He explains that because of the limitations of the technology available to the creators of the Augments there were mistakes.
That same weapon is the object of discussion aboard the bird-of-prey as Lokesh explains to Malik that while the warhead is ready, he needs time to configure and test the guidance system.

The Trek Nation - The Augments
He wants to take the Augments and the embryos into a region of space known as "the briar patch" to hide, but Malik wants to make a stand and is further enraged when he learns that Soong has been genetically engineering the ungestated Augment embryos to make them less violent.
He wants very badly to save the group he raised, yet at the same time he's increasingly aware of their imperfections, and his final plea to Malik is not for Malik's own life but for his "siblings", the embryos.
He seems sincerely attached to each Augment he loses, which makes it harder to forgive his use of hostages, particularly letting Phlox be put in the isolation chamber on CS12.

7.8. Mapping of the AUGMENTS clause   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
The AUGMENTS clause, which must not be present unless the object corresponds to a conceptual row, is an alternative to the INDEX clause.
(Thus, a conceptual row augmentation cannot itself be augmented.) Instances of subordinate columnar objects of a conceptual row augmentation are identified according to the INDEX clause of the base conceptual row corresponding to the object named in the AUGMENTS clause.
On the other hand, it would be incorrect to use the AUGMENTS clause for the relationship between RFC 1573's ifTable and the many media-specific MIBs which extend it for specific media (e.g., the dot3Table in RFC 1650), since not all interfaces are of the same media.

TrekWeb.com - "The Augments" Dodges Tough Questions and Consequences, Says Deus
Synopsis: The Augments attempt to stage an attack to begin a war between Earth and the Klingon Empire, which is thwarted by Enterprise and a defecting Soong.
But reasonable behavior is not standard in "The Augments," where things play out formulaically and everything is nicely resolved even to the extent that Archer never has to confront what should happen to the Augments when Malik conveniently destroys them all.
While I enjoyed "The Augments", Deus is certainly correct that the moral issue that should have remained or might have become the central focal point of the final part was simply avoided.

These results suggest that inactivation of Dlg1 augments Tax1-mediated transformation of CTLL-2, and PDZ protein(s) other than Dlg1 are critically involved in the transformation.
The observed differences were not due to reduced Tax1 expression in the control cells, since all four cell lines expressed equivalent amounts of Tax1 protein after the infection as shown by Western analysis (Figure 2A).
The augmented Tax1 activity was reproducibly observed in at least nine independent experiments (data not shown).

 "Magic Words" by Andy Clark
For perhaps one mistake of classical Artificial Intelligence (upon which the image purports to be based) lay in its mistaking the properties of the linguistically augmented and environmentally extended cognitive agent (the person plus a variety of external representations, especially texts) for the cognitive profile of the basic biological brain.
Thus the neat classical separation of data and process and of static symbol structures and CPU may have reflected nothing so much as the gross separation between the biological agent and an external scaffolding of ideas persisting on paper, in filing cabinets and in electronic media.
But it does not, I believe, bring into being the basic apprehensions of pleasure, pain and the sensory world in which the true mystery of consciousness inheres.
