		Congressman William J. Janklow, the only Representative from the state of South Dakota, is charged with vehicular manslaughter for an accident on August 16 in which Janklow's speeding car ran a stop sign and hit and killed a motorcyclist.
		The action is taken due to the fact that Hamas officially claims responsibility for the act of terror on August 19.

		Even though, as Steph points out, my birthday’s in August, so are The Dog Days of Summer, plus mid-August is when my seasonal allergies kick into full-gear.

		Beyond being the publisher and editor of the notable policy/political tip sheet Energy Daily, I don’t know much about King, but the potential that deregulation of the electric power industry and concomitant loss of private investment/responsibility in the grid contributed to the problem was illustrated.

	U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes
		The price indexes of imports from the European Union and from Mexico were also impacted by rising fuel prices, increasing 1.4 percent and 1.0 percent, respectively, in September.
		The increase in import prices from Europe followed 0.1 percent declines in July and August, while the index rose 5.0 percent over the past 12 months.

		Because of cuts to the budget proposal for UC Merced, the new campus will be unable to enroll undergraduates in 2004 as planned and will instead aim for a 2005 opening.
