On February 19, 1953 Georgia became the first U.S. state to approve a literature censorship board in the United States.
Georgia does not provide for townships or independent cities, but does allow consolidated city-county governments by local referendum.
On average, there is 1 city government for every 23.6 citizens in Georgia, and this is expected to increase to 1 for every 20 by the year 2008.
