 | | State University (ASU) in Augusta, a unit of the University System of Georgia, offers undergraduate- and graduate-degree programs in the liberal arts, the sciences, education, and business. |
 | | The academy, established by the state legislature as a college-preparatory school for boys, opened in 1785, the same year that the legislature authorized a university system to be made up of public academies and a capstone college. |
 | | In 2004 a third academic building, the $22 million University Hall, opened, as did a $1.5 million History Walk, which commemorates the histories of the college, the Augusta Arsenal, and the Summerville and Sandhills neighborhoods in which Augusta State University is located. |
