	Ausia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Ausia is a curious Ediacaran period fossil that basically consists of a hollow cylinder taping to a cone on one end.
		Ausia Fenestrata, named for the town of Aus in Namibia, is the only known Vendian animal with pores.
		Another interpretation is that Ausia is a pennatulacean from the Veretillidae family.

		Ausia, from Japan, have come up with a purely acoustic (‘unplugged’) album, Kasa Kasa.
		Acoustic ‘unplugged’ albums are not exactly unheard of but the instrumentation usually includes guitar, percussion and a sort of cheat involving bass guitar and keyboards and so is not really totally ‘unplugged’.
		Most of the album is instrumental but a couple of the tracks feature vocals, which are suggestive of a contemporary English male folk/rock type of vocalist.

		Ausia is a new Japanese project, which can easily be regarded as a supergroup (see line-up above), though "Kasa-Kasa" is not the first journey into the world of acoustic progressive music these musicians have undertaken this year.
		As I've implied above, all the virtues of "Kasa-Kasa" are in Ausia's own compositions, and there are plenty of them.
		Nevertheless, this is probably the most interesting and richly sounding album of acoustic progressive music I've heard this year.

		By compromising with world music, ethnic Japanese, free jazz and acoustic prog (sometimes close to pastural Jethro Tull, for which there is a cover version on Mother Goose), Ausia do deliver a one in a kind result and a real odd experience for the prog/fusion explrers out there.
		It can be tiring, not in the sense of getting tired off, but in the sense of the listener experiencing difficulties in absorbing everything that is going on in a single exposure to this record.
		Ausia's basic mix is recorder, violin and guitar all played accousically.

		Yea cept last week ausia and katie and i were goin out to lunch and i was tellin katie somethin and i didnt see this car stopped at a red light and i was goin like 50 and had to slam on my brakes and barely missed the car, it was soooo close!!!

		AUSIA is a very original project of three famous musicians of the japanese progressive rock scene, Akihisa Tsuboy on violin (KBB, STRING ARGUMENTS), Source K.Adachi on guitar, mandolin and vocal (ADACHI KYODAI) and Yukihiro Isso on recorder, shinobue and dengakubue.
		Of course the dialogues between acoustic guitar and flute, with some rare vocal parts, may recall JETHRO TULL in its most acoustic periods, but AUSIA’s influences also includes medieval and Renaissance’s music, japanese traditional music, and a lot of other musical worlds!
		This mix of ethnic, folk, jazz, and “acoustic progressive” is full of freshness and personality, of spinning round flute parts, together with acoustic guitar arpeggios or chords, and delicate —or fierce sometimes-violin parts.
