Austin 1800 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Austin 1800 was a saloon car built by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) from September 1964 to 1975 and colloquially known as the "Landcrab".
In 1969, the doors from the 1800 were used on the bodyshell of the otherwise new Austin Maxi.
The Australian Austin Kimberley, Austin Tasman and Morris Tasman (the last offered in New Zealand) X6 models of 1970 were based on the 1800 platform and retained the same doors, albeit with some changes.

Austin Dabney was a slave who became a private in the Georgia militia and fought against the British during the Revolutionary War (1775-83).
He was the only African American to be granted land by the state of Georgia in recognition of his bravery and service during the Revolution and one of the few to receive a federal military pension.
At his death in Zebulon in 1830, Dabney left all his land and property to Harris and was buried in the Harris family plot in Pike County.

Austin 3-Litre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It suffered from a perception that it was merely an enlarged Austin/Morris 1800, with which it shared its door skins, although it was in fact a quite different car.
Unlike the visually similar (but smaller) front wheel drive 1800 range, the 3-litre engine (a 7-bearing modification of the BMC C-Series) drove the rear wheels through a conventional 4 speed gearbox.
No replacement car was made by Austin in this class since by the time one would have been required, Rover and Triumph were also within British Leyland, and this was seen as a market segment more properly server by those marques.

 Pininfarina 1800
When launched in October 1964 the Austin 1800 was praised for its combination of handling and interior space but received rather less acclaim for its appearance.
In 1964 the 1800 was launched and it was clear to everyone that Pininfarina's relationship with BMC had changed - it was obvious that the design freedom of the past had gone.
The Austin 1800 chassis, number 82605, arrived in Turin on 10th August 1967 and the Turin show was due to open on 1 November.

 Austin & Morris 1800/2200 gallery
This, their first effort dating from 1959, was effectively a scaled-up version of their contemporary proposal for the XC9002 project.
By 1960, the decision had been taken to promote the car to the 1800 class, and the project was renamed XC9005.
This new Pininfarina proposal from June 1960 is quite close to the design that was finally signed-off, although its front-end styling was thought to be too similar to that of the forthcoming Morris 1100 (ADO16).
