		Keith John Austin Asche was born in Melbourne on 28 November 1925, and spent his childhood in Darwin and Melbourne.
		Mr Asche was appointed as the fifteenth Administrator of the Northern Territory on 1 March 1993, a position he held until 16 February 1997.
		Austin Asche married Valerie James in 1958 and they have one son and one daughter.

		Justice Asche was appointed as a Queen's Counsel in 1972 and was the first judge appointed to the newly formed Family Court of Australia in 1976.
		Justice Asche served as Chairman of the Northern Territory Parole Board from 1987 to 1993 and upon retirement from the Supreme Court bench in 1993 was appointed Administrator of the N.T. until 1997.
		Justice Asche was an Honorary Colonel in NORFORCE and Chief Scout of the Northern Territory from 1993 to 1997.
