		Dr Austin Vernon Mitchell (born 19 September 1934) is the Labour Member of Parliament for Great Grimsby in England.
		In October 2002 he temporarily changed his name to Austin Haddock as haddock is a staple catch for his constituents that was suffering a decline and it was his wish to promote it.

		Austin, of the Atlantic Area Deputy Plans and Exercise Branch in Ports-mouth, Va., and fellow skiers took to the chilly waters of Competition Lake at Funjunction Park in Elizabeth City, N.C., Oct. 9 to raise money and awareness for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
		The Haley Mitchell Ski-a-thon to benefit Families of SMA was a three-round slalom water ski event that saw 35 skiers from North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware compete to raise money in honor of the 2-year-old daughter of Jeff Mitchell, Austin's best friend, coach and training partner.
		Mitchell said the club is already talking about a tournament to coincide with Haley's birthday weekend next year.

		In 1999, Austin, an avid water-skier for more than 30 years, organized a one-day water-skiing tournament in Haley’s honor, along with other members of the River City Ski Club at Fun Junktion Park, N.C. To earn points, each skier must slalom ski the course while navigating as many passes as possible around six buoys.
		Austin hopes to organize a satellite tournament in Mandeville, La., and count the scores toward his pledges.

		The event is part of an education campaign the City of Austin launched in May to address this concern and better inform the public about the city ordinance that makes placing signs in the public right of way illegal.
