Released in 1999, the film was written by Mike Myers and screenwriter Michael McCullers and stars Mike Myers as Austin Powers.
As with the other Austin Powers films, this one is a parody of spy films, especially the James Bond films.

Now, that doesn't mean that Austin Powers is my hero or that he refrained completely from driving his "Shaguar." It does mean that I didn't hate the picture.
In fact, "The Spy Who Shagged Me" is a strong "B" film for any adult with an open-minded funny bone and probably a laugh-a-minute-riot cult film for high school freshmen.

"Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," "The Spy Who Shagged Me" is really just a bouquet of gags, and no matter how well each one is executed (and there are more than a few I'd characterize as brilliant), the bunch of them make for an awkward jumble.
Powers' character is an odd collection of effects: the too-broad disingenuous grin, the toupee-like mop of hair, the absurdly furry chest.
Powers has a kind of mischievous joie de vivre that stops just short of being annoying, and it more than offsets his untamed libido (not to mention those delightfully horrible teeth).

Of course, the Austin Powers movies are best viewed with a large group of goofy people (as I noted in my earlier review), and the fact that I saw The Spy Who Shagged Me with a theater full of randy (oh, behave!), rowdy Austin-maniacs probably made a huge contribution to my enjoyment of it.
"Austin Powers always defeats me because he has mojo." Using his "time machine" (Evil mimes the quotes around the words), Evil and his one-eighth-size clone, his beloved Mini-Me (Verne Troyer, from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Men in Black), head back from 1999 to 1969 to steal the mojo from the cryogenically frozen Austin.
As Austin says sadly to himself, "You were a swinger, man, and now you're nothing." Luckily, the Ministry of Defence just happens to have its own time machine, a new Beetle with a psychedelic paint job (a shagadelic version of Back to the Future's DeLorean), so Austin flies back to his own time.

The dark forces in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me draw consistently bigger laughs than the swinging secret agent and his latest shag-pad material, CIA operative Felicity Shagwell (a stunningly awful Heather Graham).
Also in tow in The Spy Who Shagged Me is a one-eighth-the-size version of Dr. Evil–"I shall call him Mini Me." Mini Me (played by Verne Troyer) is another brainstorm; too bad they couldn't have come up with a kitten-sized version of Mr.
Austin flashes his bad teeth and growls "groovy baby, yeah!" but his character is becoming very repetitive and Myers himself doesn't seem to know how to extend his creation.

And, while Austin Powers had its flaws, such as a tendency to drag in between comic pinnacles, it also possessed a breezy charm that made for a welcome, if admittedly sophomoric, time at the movies.
Unlike Elizabeth Hurley, who tore into her role with guts and gusto, and relished every ludicrous line, Graham is too subdued, and there are a few scenes where she appears to be trying to act rather than overact.
