Leyland Princess - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Leyland Princess, sometimes called the Austin Princess, was a larger-sized (by British standards) car produced by British Leyland in the United Kingdom from 1975 through to 1981.
A crown badge was affixed to the point of the bonnet and the script word Princess was affixed to the grille, the thick vinyl-clad C pillars and the boot.
This was badged as the 'Austin Princess' in New Zealand.

Austin Princess - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Austin Princess was a name given to luxury cars made by the Austin company during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
The name Princess was revived in the 1970s for a car built by British Leyland and initially sold through Austin and other dealerships; this car was never actually badged Austin Princess in the UK (though it was in some export markets) and is better referred to as Leyland Princess.
The Princess model was updated over the years through Mk I, Mk II and Mk III versions, the variations being fairly minor; the bodywork didn't change much and neither did the 4-litre straight-6 engine.

Austin Princess IV - Practical Classics   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Launched in the 1956 the Princess IV was the last in the well regarded big Austin / Vanden Plas Princess range.
As with the earlier Princess cars the IV came as either a Sports Saloon or Touring Limousine and offered the usual appointments and high build quality, most were purchased and used by hire firms or by local councils for "civic duties".
The Princess IV now came equipped with power steering, servo assisted brakes and Hydramitic (automatic) transmission as used on Rolls-Royce models of the period.

 Vanden Plas Princess 3 Litre
Then, without changing the cars in any way, the Austin Princess IV of the period was 'de-badged', and officially became known simply as the Princess.
Whatever the title, the Vanden Plas-produced 3-Litre was structurally and mechanically identical to the new Austin A99 and Wolseley 6/99 saloons.
Compared with the Wolseley 6/99, therefore, the Princess 3-Litre had a prominent special grille and an overhanging bonnet panel, and there were special wheel nave plates and paint schemes to add to the air of exclusivity.

The Austin Motor Company was founded by the late Lord Austin (then Mr Herbert Austin) in 1905 with a capital of £15,000.
Austin was not new to motor manufacture for he had previously been with the Wolseley Company and had designed his first car - a 3 wheeler - in 1895.
In the intervening years it has produced some famous motor cars, notably the Austin Seven, which introduced a new standard of small car motoring for the family man. Today the company is controlled by one of the most dynamic figures in British industry, Mr L.P. Lord.

 Vanden Plas: the executive class
In 1959, the success of the previous year's Austin A105 Vanden Plas convinced BMC to produce a similar version based on its new Farina saloon, and in the process, the Vanden Plas name became a marque in its own right.
This Princess 3 litre Countryman, finished in the bespoke royal shade of bottle green, was produced in 1963 in response to a commission from HM Queen Elizabeth.
The car is something of a curate's egg: while the front appears to have benefitted from the restyling, the decision to install a wraparound rear screen in place of the Austin's six-light arrangement has served to upset the balance of what many observers consider to be the original car's most attractive viewing angle.

Desperately, he leaves his village and family behind and journeys across the land to meet with the Spirit of the Forest and thereby break the curse that has been put not only on him but also the very land itself.
What's amazing about the film, though, is its vast palette; Princess Mononoke is filled to bursting with epic battles, gorgeous, jaw-dropping animation that will have the hairs on the nape of your neck rising, and a solidly pro-earth message that's rarely as heavy-handed as you might think (FernGully this isn't).
Princess Mononoke'sonly fault may lie in its epic-for-animation length; at two hours and 20 minutes, it's far too long for most younger children and a bit of a stretch even for some adults.

The two lead characters serve as proof: Xena, the warrior, and her trusty sidekick, the buoyant, idealistic Gabrielle.
