The Aboriginal Flag was designed by Harold Thomas, an artist and an Aboriginal, in 1971.
The flag was designed to be an eye-catching rallying symbol for the Aboriginal people and a symbol of their race and identity.
The fl represents the Aboriginal people, the red the earth and their spiritual relationship to the land, and the yellow the sun, the giver of life.

The Australian Aboriginal flag is a flag that was initially used by Indigenous Australians in their struggle for land rights in Australia, but whose use has now expanded as a symbol of the Aboriginal people.
Before the current Aboriginal flag was used at the tent embassy, other designs were used earlier in the year, including a fl, green and red flag made by Sydney supporters, and also a flag with a spear and four crescents in yellow in front of a red and fl background.

Justice Toohey said Queenslanders were constantly warned that Aborigines should not be prevented from subsisting on the pastoral leasehold lands.
Aborigines released a 22-page response to the Wik decision just prior to the release of the Government's 10-point plan, calling for the negotiation of co-existence agreements and rejecting any upgrading of pastoral leases because they say this would block and extinguish native title.
However Aborigines say the money is already theirs and that to use it for compensation for the extinguishment of native title would be "funding their own disposession".

With the growing movement for an Australian republic in the mid-1990s leading many to believe that the change would be inevitable, the ramifications of dropping our allegiance to the Queen or King of England were being thought out.
The Australian flag has been in existence for most of the time since Federation, and most Australians are quite attached to it.
A comment from a flag expert led me to remove the Federation Star as being too “busy”, and to move the Southern Cross to the position of honour at the upper left of the flag.

James describes the flag perfectly, but I think the blue stripes in the hoist and fly are of proportions 1 to 2.
Secondly, the designer of the Aboriginal flag, Harold Thomas, does not believe the Aboriginal flag should ever be used in such a way.
Apart from the Ausflag sections on changing the NSW flag (which are a couple of years old now) I haven't heard anything about states changing, certainly not here in Queensland (although we'd probably be the last state to consider such an idea, Queensland's a tad conservative in some qurters).
