The Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) is part of Australia's Department of Defence.
DSTO is the Australian Government’s lead agency charged with applying science and technology to protect and defend Australia and its national interests.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence, Mr Peter Lindsay, today presented a national science award to Dr Bruce Hinton for his outstanding achievement in preventing and controlling corrosion in the Australian Defence Force aircraft fleet.

The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) is the University College for the Australian Defence Force for educating junior officers of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force, and for post-graduate study by more senior ADF personnel.
In late 2003, the Australian Department of Defence entered into another agreement with the University of New South Wales for the operation of ADFA which is thus the 'University College'.
ADFA is commanded for the Australian Defence Force by a Commodore, Brigadier, or Air Commodore on rotation.

Australia's Department of Defence administers the Australian Defence Organisation (ADO) consisting of the ADF and the civilian personnel supporting the ADF.
The ADF is constituted under the Executive Government sections of the Australian Constitution, Section 68, that says, "The command in chief of the naval and military forces of the Commonwealth is vested in the Governor-General as the Queen's representative." (The Queen referred to in this Act of 9th July 1900 was Victoria.
In practice, the control of the ADF is, politically, vested in the Minister for Defence and several subordinate ministers.

The Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) is a branch of the Australian Department of Defence which researches and develops technologies for use in the Australian Defence Industry.
DSTO was created in 1974 by amalgamating the Australian Defence Scientific Service with the Science Branch of the Department of Defence.
Over the next 20 years various other Australian Defence laboratories were integrated with DSTO, including what remained of the Weapons Research Establishment, responsible for the Woomera test range.

Singtel Optus has the prime contractor role to the Australian Department of Defence for the military communications payload, and the satellite was built under the responsibility of Japan's Mitsubishi Electric.
Australian military officials said the benefits of this shared program are substantial - providing a large satellite communications capability, delivered years ahead and at a fraction of the cost than if the Australian Department of Defence had acquired a telecom satellite alone.

The Australian Defence Simulation Office plans to start using its enhanced version of CM:AK to re-create tactical engagements in Greece, Crete, and North Africa from 1940-1943 sometime next month.
