SYDNEY (AFX) - The Australian Gas Light Company Ltd (AGL) said it is working with the nation's competition regulator to gain clearance for its proposed merger with West Australian energy group Alinta Ltd.
The company, Australia's largest energy retailer, said it has proposed a number of structural undertakings to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to clear the way for its 2.7 bln aud all scrip offer for Alinta.
AGL was planning to split into an energy company and an infrastructure group before Alinta, in a 1.8 bln aud share market raid in February, built a 19.9 pct stake in AGL.
