The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is a specialised educational and training institution providing coaching for elite junior and senior athletes in a number of sports, many of them Olympic sports but including a number of others.
It is a division of the Australian Sports Commission.
The AIS and the Australian Olympic Committee formed the Australian Institute of Winter Sports after the 1998 Winter Olympics.

An Australian sport scientist says retrospective testing for the performance-enhancing drug EPO is entirely accurate, after new claims that Lance Armstrong took the banned substance during his first Tour de France win.
French sports newspaper L'Equipe has reported that samples provided by Armstrong in 1999 tested positive for the drug when they were thawed out in 2004.

In collaboration with the Australian Sports Drug Testing Laboratory, the AIS is calling for 120 fit and frequent sport-playing men and women aged between 18 and 35 to take EPO for 14 weeks and be monitored to determine the effects of the synthetic hormone on athletes.
Sports Illustrated and CNN have combined to form a 24 hour sports news and information channel.
