The national open was to have been played on the same November 28-30 slot as the Davis Cup final with the local Seven Network having broadcasting rights to both events.
Initially, the Open golf was to finish earlier each day, allowing Seven to broadcast the tennis at night--but the expected decision to play the final on grass has prevented that because the surface would be too slippery at night.
But Australian Golf Union chief Colin Phillips can see a bright side to the date change saying it would help the Open which was struggling to get name players in November.
