		The Black-winged Stilt is a large (35 to 39 cm) fl and white wader with long orange-red legs and a straight fl bill.
		Black-winged Stilts are related to Banded Stilts, Cladorhynchus leucocephalus, which have a broad chestnut band across the breast (absent in young birds) and lack the fl on the back of the neck.
		Black-winged Stilts prefer freshwater and saltwater marshes, mudflats, and the shallow edges of lakes and rivers.

		Kim Uyehara of Ducks Unlimited noticed an odd-plumaged Stilt at the Cyanotech facility in Kona, Hawai'i during early February and reported the odd-looking bird to Robert Pyle at the Bishop Museum, O'ahu.
		Stilt taxonomy is an issue of much debate with some authorities recognizing only one Stilt species, whilst others recognize two or three species and some split all the different forms into separate species.

		The confusion is made worse by the fact the fl necked and headed stilt is only seen during the migration and never seen breeding here.I suspect that what the fled headed and necked stilts we have here are migrants from India.
		Black Winged Stilt is common resident bird in India.Yes, color pattern variations can be seen in many birds and I think that it is due to growing age and breeding plumage changes.

		The first time a species is seen it is displayed in bold and where a 'C' appears next to a species, this indicates that it was commonly seen on that date.
