CBOnline - Hip Hop — a way of life
However, it’s a mistake to think hip hop is a revival (or the survival) of ancient poetic traditions.
Hip hop is more than a music, it’s a way of life, it’s a way of dressing, a way of seeing and being in the world for youth.
Hip hop’s rhymes allows any youth to talk about their trails and tribulations — it’s a language for getting things off your chest — getting the truth out on the street.

Instrumental hip hop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In hip hop's earliest days the beat was the focus of the music: a DJ would isolate the percussion breaks from hit funk and disco songs, mixing two copies of the same song between two turntables and thus repeating the break, as these were often the most popular and danceable parts of the songs.
Purely instrumental hip hop tracks were not popular throughout the 1980s, but producers and DJs (such as DJ Mark the 45 King) have made and released hip hop beats without MCs since hip hop's inception.
Instrumental hip hop has yet to be fully recognized as a genre unto itself, and is often lumped in with trip hop, downtempo, electronica, or industrial music.

Jams in the CENTERS of Australia's hip hop community, namely throughout Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne are fairly frequent, although it seems as though big events are pretty unpublicised and unknown of outside of the cities.
I don't see big hip hop groups promoting the 4 elements, few if any shoutouts to writers, bboys or even dj's, apart from their own on songs and absolutely no recognition of hip hop's influence in the writer's community around many places (most of them are skaters).
I can't speak for the whole scene and i wouldn't propose to, but it seems that their are ALOT of problems in Australian Hip Hop and especially outside of the major centers of both ethnic and cultural renaissance in Australia (Sydney, Mlebz and Adelaide).

In my opinion, the Australian scene stands apart from that of the UK in a few ways, not to mention obvious things like the accent.
That said, there are still one or two exceptions to this rule, but for the most part, artists who are not “selling out” are generally accepted for their American accents if the music itself is good.
