The Australian dollar is currently the sixth-most-traded currency in world foreign exchange markets (behind the US dollar, the euro, the British pound, the yen, and the Canadian dollar), accounting for approximately 4-5% of worldwide foreign exchange transactions.
The Australian dollar was introduced on 14 February 1966, not only replacing the Australian pound (long since distinct from the pound sterling), but also introducing a decimal system.
All coins portray Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and are produced by the Royal Australian Mint.

Established in 1999, the Lansdowne cup was donated to the Australian Rugby Union by the Lansdowne Club of Sydney as a perpetual trophy between Australia and Ireland.
In 1901, the Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of New Zealand, announced his intention of presenting a cup to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, of which he was patron.
