The slouch hat: Trademark of the Australian Army [Australian War Memorial]
Introduced into Australian military service in the second half of the 19th century, the hat was suited to the local climate and the rigours of military use.
Metal numerals worn on the front of the hat, half an inch above the band, indicated the wearer’s unit.
In early 1916, having taken command of the 3rd Australian Division, Monash secured approval from General Birdwood for his men to wear the brims of their hats flat and the badge fixed to the front.

Battle metal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
By the other definition, battle metal is a sub-genre of fl metal, closely related to epic metal and drawing on themes of medieval or fantasy battle and fighting, and in the opinion of some would be suitable for the soundtrack for a Role Playing Game.
Battle metal bands like Summoning were thought to be possible contributors to the soundtrack of the Lord of the Rings movies, but this was mainly because of the Tolkien-related content of their music and they did not appear on the soundtrack.
Most bands who play battle metal also contribute to other sub-genres of fl metal: for instance, Bathory are prominent in the Viking metal sub-genre, and Waylander are pioneers of three sub-genres of fl metal: this one, folk metal and Celtic Metal.

 [Australian War Memorial]
The identification was designed to assist in identifying the seriously wounded or the dead; however, it was found that soldiers did not always carry their identification in the correct pocket and detailed searches would often be required when trying to identify a casualty.
In 1906, Australian soldiers were issued with a tin disc rather than the tape, and given orders that this was to be worn around the neck.
Folklore has it that these colourings were to aid soldiers in remembering which tag went where: red meant blood and was to be taken, since the soldier was dead; green meant grass and was to stay with the body.

Talk:Heavy metal music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've been adding material to nu metal, and it occured to me that perhaps an article at metal (music) would be a good kind of index.
It had a claim that heavy metal was sporadically popular in the US but consistently and hugely popular in Japan, europe, etc. I don't buy it, and have simplified the statement (which again, I think is silly for a genre as fragmented, long-lived, and diverse as this one).
Stoner metal is not a widely popular genre, and thus cannot be considered influential, and fl metal is mostly taken as a joke, both by bands themselves and by fans of the genre.

 Conqueror - Grinding Black Metal
Counterpoint in dual frameworks of paced discursive deconstruction of motif and expression of dominant rhythm and mode, as means of riff genesis, forms the oppositional halves in rhythm that adjust the structure behind this work and assemble a linear continuity of narrative in texture and tonal/rhythmic motion.
This structure, old as metal and hardcore, here in information era form is rendered in the fragmentary unified by an overbearing centralized structure, suggestion a tyranny of expectation against which internal motion rebels.
Formed from the same linearist code juxtaposition that gives Demoncy and Incantation their world-shifting feel, Black Witchery use warmer modalities in a death metal style within pure fl metal riffing of simple looping structures which converge on the same resonant melody, producing an effect of unsettling mutation within the pragmatically balanced.
