Actually, all the evidence suggest that Dravidians were a proto/paleo-Caucasian form widespread in the Middle East at an earlier age, and was reduced to southern India.
Actually, "australoid" is used, still, to designate these peoples by some athropologists, but it's out of date and I myself am uncomfortable with designating people into boxed categories, since genetics and paleo-anthropology have shown that modern populations are formed out of complex interactions in time.
Australoid describes the race of humans primarily from Australia, and was one of the four major races as recognized by 19th century racial theories.

Caucasoid, Negroid, Mongoloid, Australoid, Capoid at AllExperts
Caucasoid, Negroid, Mongoloid, Australoid are terms that were once widely used in physical anthropology to delineate different races of humans.
Australoid denoted the indigenous peoples of Melanesia, Micronesia and Australia.
Almost all such classification schemes have included the term "Caucasoid." Coon's system was unique in that it discarded "Negroid," split sub-Saharan African into Congoid and Capoid, and split the far east into Mongoloid and Australoid.

AN AFRICAN PRESENCE IN PREHISTORIC AMERICA
These migrants are called "Australoids" because of their close physical and cultural relationships to the people who more than 50,000 years ago colonized much of Asia and Australia.
One of the most well-documented single pieces of evidence for the presence of Afro-Australoids in the prehistoric Americas during the period of Gladwin's writing was the Punin Skull: a female crania found in 1923, embedded in a stratum of volcanic ash near the small village of Punin in the Andean region of Ecuador.
Their movements into the New World were then slowed, and later halted altogether, by the Australoid populations that were already well established in the North American Southwest.

There is no question that Australoids migrated out of Africa, nor that they were one of the first if not THE first wave fo humans to migrate out of Africa.
This would mean that Caucasoid (and eventually Mongoloid) people evolved from Australoid and Negroid types as a result of new conditions that brought about mutations and evolutionary conditions that modled these migrants into "new races".

Currently there are three or four major “races” of humans, as the word race is commonly defined: (a) Australoid; (b) Caucasoid; (c) Mongoloid; and (d) Negroid.
Generally speaking, the Australoids are considered a subgroup of the Caucasoids, simply because the two groups have so many features in common, despite the fact that Australoids possess dark skin (the Australoid group is often known as the Australian Aboriginal Group).
It is interesting to note that these races are distributed around the globe throughout over 100 nations, and speak 3,000+ tribal languages and dialects.
