Incidentally, this is not a complaint against Austrian per se, since that is the agreement that has been negotiated with United.
Our total flying miles in the last year is around 80,000 on several different airlines, and this seemed to be the unhappiest cabin crew we have ever experienced (and that includes United employees quietly discussing amongst themselves where they will be applying for work and then managing to serve us with a smile).
We would like to think that the service and food on the return flight are more typical of "the friendly airline." We would certainly consider using them again, but since we have reached frequent flyer elite levels both on United and Continental, we would explore other options that might provide better seating.
