The Austrian Football Bundesliga (in German, the Österreichische Fußball-Bundesliga) is the highest national league club competition in Austrian football, which began in the 1974 / 75 season.
In addition the federal league for the conversion of the Toto Jugendliga is jointly responsible and represents in co-operation with the associations the professional football in Austria.
The Austrian Bundesliga carries the obligation for a positive development of the football as a sport at the elite level, as well as advancing the next generation of players in co-operation with the teams in the junior levels of the sport.

The Bundesliga (plural: -ligen) (Federal League, meaning nation-wide league) is the name for the premier league of any sport in Germany or Austria.
Most often, German champions and Austrian champions are determined by a team winning their Bundesliga regular season organized as a round-robin tournament.
Points are earned from match results (for example, in the football Bundesliga, a team which wins a match receives 3 points, with teams receiving 1 point each for a draw) and the team with the most points at the end of the season wins the championship without any further playoffs or a final.
